Hence, within the available means harnessed to serve this segment, the center aims first to teach medical prevention for the teeth then to provide dental medical assistance to the child by establishing a mechanism to protect him against dental diseases.
According to the center's director Mr. Ali Hasan al-Bahadli: "It is a qualitative and specialized center that is the first of its kind in Iraqi in the field of prevention and treatment of teeth, especially as it concerns children between 6 and 12 years old from all provinces, In particular the humanitarian cases of orphans and children of families of limited income. All of this, is conducted in coordination with the institutions and offices of the religious authorities in the city. And we have been able to receive hundreds of cases in the province of Karbala, to launch the initiative in other provinces according to a schedule prepared in advance for this purpose."
He added: "The center provides its services free of charge, and the supervising medical and nursing staff is a volunteer staff that is specialist in this field, some of them are from Iraq while other are from abroad. The al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine provides housing and transport in addition to the modern equipment in the center".
Indicating: "The center is equipped with high-quality devices of Italian origins, and the highest standards of global health centers were respected in the design and implementation of this center. The center includes several units, including a unit of teeth, radiology unit and others, and it is managed by a specialized medical, administrative and service staff by 7 hours of work daily. "
And in spite of the quality of services provided by the center, the most beautiful thing is that it is a charity center that attracts diverse foreign dentists with high experience and who depends on the educational means of prevention and care of teeth, by giving attention to the beauty and health of the tooth as a start for any treatment.
"The center was working to treat children from Karbala province and then moved to the nearby governorates. We paid special attention to the orphans - the orphans of the security forces and the popular mobilization - whether they are individuals, institutions or schools," said Ali Nateq, a medical assistant at the center. "And we followed a voluntary approach to each case, where we work once we receive the patient to eliminate the fear by giving him explanations enhanced by educational means to remedy the case."
It is worth mentioning that the establishment of this center, which is located at the al-'Ameed University located on the road (Najaf - Karbala) comes from the belief of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine of its moral responsibility, and based on its strong humanitarian and leadership role derived from the altruism of the owner of the holy shrine; Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and because of the lack of specialized medical centers in the field, the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine established this specialized preventive dental center for the children.
