Through this guideline, one of the steps taken by Astan Quds Razavi in this regard was to hold the first Goharshad World Award festival in the Karamat Ten-Day Celebrations in the year 2016, in which a group of cultural activists, Iranian and foreign philanthropists and donators gathered to appreciate the efforts of benevolent and cultured ladies from different nationalities.
At the verge of the third cultural event of the Goharshad World Award, Dr. Ali Sarvari Majd, the secretary of the Goharshad Award pointing to the criteria for choosing the winners said, “What determines the selection of the winners of this award in this period is the combination of two wings of cultivation and philanthropy alongside one another, which the first means primeness, eminence and being revolutionary.”
The Cultural Building Trend in the Islamic world
“This award is not limited to Shi’ite or Muslim ladies, but all the cultured and philanthropist ladies of monotheistic religions who in addition to play the role of being a mother and a wife make endeavor in the social sphere as a contributive woman in the field of philanthropy will be appreciated. It should be acknowledged that in fact the Goharshad World Award is awarded to those benevolent ladies who understand the importance of this godly act and have taken steps toward it,” he emphasized.
“This action provides the foundations in the Islamic world and humanity, so that people who go on the path of philanthropy to be introduced as models to society and others by looking up to them as people who can be modeled by the path they have taken, and this cultural movement can develop the philanthropy trend in the Iranian society and the Muslim world and even in all humanity,” he said, describing the building of role models in society as one of the goals of the award.
Promoting Philanthropy Culture, Challenge for the West
“The point where Islam can challenge the West is to promote the culture of Islamic philanthropy, and this is where the world award expects of participants to be an active part of the community. The winners of this award will be Imam Reza’s (A.S.) honorary servants and we expect such people to be active in the field of seeking a successor and extend the radius of the charity among all the goodwill ladies in the international arena,” Sarvari Majd added.
“These people, by introducing the best choices to receive the award in subsequent periods, strive to expand the culture of philanthropy at the level of ladies, especially youth and adolescents, so while transferring these experiences to other benefactors, especially the philanthropy network of Goharshad World Award, in the form of Razavi servants introduce the aspects of the personality of Reza (A.S.) to other women,” he asserted.
Building a Network among the Philanthropist ladies
Referring to the fact that the Goharshad World Award is an attempt to create a network between the world’s cultured and benevolent women he expressed, “The goal of the award is to say that a cultured lady, while performing her duties, can perform tasks very actively in the family and society or region and possibly in the world, and this is a model that we are proposing as a Muslim and cultured woman.”
He stated that more than 100 resumes have been sent to the secretariat of the Goharshad World Award and remarked, “These individuals will be introduced to various Islamic centers of different countries through the consultations, and the chosen of this period are introduced from the countries of Russia, Iraq, Nigeria, Bahrain, Tanzania, Kuwait and Turkey.”
The secretary of the Goharshad World Award highlighted the informing through cyberspace and commented, “We are active in ten messenger Applications such as Soroush, Eitaa, iGap, Instagram, Twitter and Telegram, in which the number of audience is impressive.”
