The head of the Calligraphy Office of Astan Quds Razavi Libraries, Museums and Documents Center has announced the donation of a manuscript of Kollīyāt Sa'adī to the Center.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Hassan Norinya, stating that this book belongs to the 13th century AH, added, “This copy was written in the year 1222 AH, with the Nasta'līq calligraphy by Mirza Mehdi, named Mirza Aqa Mir Al-Hamzavi Al-Musawi.”
“The book has five distinct masterly inlaid and golden head titles, at the beginning of Gulistan, Bustan, Ghazaliat, Qasida and Tayebat and the tabulation of all the papers is in the form of Zar, Tahrir, Silu and Sorkhi,” he articulated.
“The preface page has half-Toranji head title and golden T’asheer and its gold-smeared words are written in the text and the margin of paper in Daftari and Chalipayi forms,” Noriniya continued.
He described the copy as extremely exquisite and stated, “The book has been written in Shiraz and its gold smearing style is between the Shiraz and Isfahan schools which is considered rare.”
Hujjat al-Islam Shuja Ali Mirza, the donator of this rare copy who resides in Canada, called it an ancestral heirloom and said, “The main donator of the book is Mrs. Ahmadi Beygum, one of my wife’s ancestors, who had given this copy to her stepson and made a will to bring it to an Islamic country, and after the sale spend its money on charity. After many years he also gave the copy to his son-in-law resident in London. His son-in-law, Seyyed Naghi Hassan Kermani, who is my father-in-law purchased the copy from him and its money was spent on charity. He also handed the book to his daughter and my wife and was willing to fully fulfill Ahmadi Beygum’s will. That is why I brought this book from Canada to Mashhad to dedicate it to the library of Imam Reza (A.S.).
