Recommendations for Pilgrims
The head of Astan Quds Razavi Medical Institute stressed the necessity for the pilgrims of the Razavi Holy Shrine to take health recommendations during the trip especially in the summer and said, “Pilgrims might attempt to adjust their timing so that the weather is desirable and milder here.”
“Pilgrims, especially children and the elderly should not stay in the sun for as long as they can,” he said, pointing out that pilgrims should be stationed in places that are standard in terms of cooling and heating.
“Pilgrims should have proper coverage to partake in the congregational prayers at the Razavi Holy Shrine. For instance, use a hat or cloth to prevent sunburn on the head,” Akhavan Mahdavi reiterated.
“Elderly people, especially those with cardiac and respiratory diseases, should not be going out of their place of residence and postpone their pilgrimage to cooler days when the weather is more suitable,” he stated.
“Provided these pilgrims for any reason attended the Holy Shrine during the overcrowded days, they should not get close to the central core of the Holy Shrine with a high population density. This age group can undertake the pilgrimage in the surrounding porticos which remain more unfrequented and cooler,” he noted.
“If pilgrims suffered from hyperthermia for any reason, they will first be moved to a shady location and lie down. Then be given water. Also, at the earliest opportunity, the Shrine Emergency Stations must be notified, so that the medical personnel of these bases are deployed and medical services are provided to these patients,” he added.
“Pilgrims should provide their drinking water from the places designated at the Razavi Shrine and avoid using water from places that are not for drinking,” Akhavan Mahdavi expressed.
“Pilgrims should have a small bottle of drinking water if possible, so had they can drink water immediately if they felt hyperthermia,” the GP said.
“Pilgrims should avoid the consumption of high-fat foods during the summer, even the food they prepared for themselves. High-fat foods could be a problem for them in these days” he pointed out.
“Furthermore, the pilgrims ought to provide food from the proper and suitable places around the Razavi Holy Shrine so that they do not suffer from health problems or food poisoning,” Akhavan Mahdavi remarked.
“The Medical Emergency Center of Astan Quds Razavi’s Medical Institute is ready to render services to the people by calling in extension No. 2424 and the general No. 32002424 at all hours of the day, so as to have a decent trip in the holy Mashhad” he pointed out.
