The expert on the calligraphy of Astan Quds Razavi Libraries, Museums and Documents Center said, “Baha'addin Mohammad Ameli, known as Sheikh Baha'i has published more than ninety books and treatises on politics, jurisprudence and tradition, mathematics, ethics, astronomy, mysticism and Sufism, jurisprudence, engineering, arts and physics and many poems in Arabic and Persian that are kept in the Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi.”
“Most of these works, some of which are explained and corrected by him were preserved in his personal library and he personally donated them to the library of Astan Quds Razavi and the endowment note can be seen in his handwriting, signature and stamp in these works” Seyyed Mohammad Reza Fazel Hashemi added.
He referred to one of these copies, which Sheikh Baha'is has explained it and Ibn Khatun, his pupil translated it in Persian and said, “Among the exquisite works of Sheikh Baha'i, there exists a book entitled ‘Arbaeen of Hadith’ known as ‘Arbaeen’ in Arabic, written in 1010 S.H, and donated in the year 1309 H.S. Although many Shi'ite scholars wrote the Arbaeen, this work also called ‘Forty Traditions’ is one of the best and most famous among them.”
Fazel Hashemi pointed to another valuable copy of the works of this famous scholar of the Safavid era and explained, “This work entitled ‘Selected Interpretations’ contains the commentary of the Holy Qur'an, written in 1014 S.H, and donated in 1067 by Ibn Khatun Ameli.”
He introduced one of the most outstanding works of Sheikh Baha'i in the field of Islamic sciences and knowledge, which was written in Isfahan in 1017 and stated, “The name of this book is ‘Mashriq al-Shamsin and Eksir Al-Sa'datin’, or ‘Majm’a al-Nurain and Matl’a al-Nayyerin’, in which the author using the Qur'anic verses and jurisprudential traditions has provided Shia’s argumentative jurisprudence.”
Fazel Hashemi recounted a copy, written in 1027 in Mashhad that Nader Shah Afshar donated it in 1145 and said, “The title of this work is ‘Asna Ashariat al-Khums’, which is also referred to as ‘Rasayel Khums al-Asna’ and is written on purification, prayer, poor-tax, fasting and hajj.”
The expert in charge of the calligraphy works of the Libraries, Museums and Documents Center of the Astan Quds Razavi, identified Sheikh Baha'i as the main donators of Astan Quds Razavi, whose endowments are not bounded to his writings and pointed out, “The works donated in his handwriting include the Qur’ans attributed to Imam Ali (A.S.), Imam Hassan (A.S.), Imam Hussein (A.S.) and Imam Sajjad (A.S.) in Kufi calligraphy on the deer's skin, which is endowed by Shah Abbas Safavi and its endowment is entirely in his handwriting. Each of these Qur'ans is one of the early century’s masterpieces of Islamic art.”
It is worth mentioning that Baha'ddin Muhammad Ibn Hussein bin Ameli, known as Sheikh Baha'i, stands as a celebrated scholar of the tenth and eleventh century AH. During the last twenty years of his life, he had the title “Sheikh al-Islam” at the court of Shah Abbas I Safavid, and in 1031 AH, coincided with 1000 S.H deceased in Isfahan and based on his will was buried in Astan Quds Razavi next to the mausoleum of Imam Reza (A.S.).
