Head of Research and Introducing Works Office said, “A holy Qur’an attributed to the handwriting of Imam Ali (A.S.) is one of the most exquisite Qur’ans of Astan Quds Razavi’s museums. This holy copy starts with the first verse of the Hood Surah and ends with the 110th verse of Kahf Surah”.
The date of this work which has been written with Kufic style in 15 line format of Bayyaz and with the size of 23× 32 was introduced by Javad Farahmand Nejad as the beginning of Islam. He also said that the cover of this work is two sided brown calfskin and it has got 60 sheets”.
Regarding the donator of this work, he said, “The Qur’an attributed to Imam Ali (A.S.) was dedicated to the Razavi Holy Shrine by Shah Abbas Safavid in 979/ 1600 through the endowment letter of Sheikh Baha al-Din Muhammad (Sheikh Bahaei)”.
A holy Qur’an in big size created by Zabihollah Ohadi was another work with the centrality of Quran which was referred to by him. He also said, “This book has been written with mixed handwritings of Neirizi and Osmani in 15 lines. Creation of this work lasted for 13 years. Like Osman Taha Qur’ans, this book also has got 604 pages. Size of the copy is 100 × 70 cm and its weight is about 220 kilograms.
Farahmand Nejad also referred to the Qur’anic pamphlet written on the wood as another Qur’anic work of collection of Astan Quds Razavi’s museums. He also said, “Seyyed Moslem Shokri, son of martyr Keramatollah Shokri and creator of this work, has written forty Surahs of with the intention of starting age of Prophet Mohammad’s (S.A.W.) mission. He has also written on 14 pages with the intention of 14 infallibles. Size of this work is 45 × 33 cm”.
He referred to the Qur’an engraved on 114 pieces of black granites as one of the most exquisite works existing in Astan Quds Razavi’s museums.
Introducing different aspects of this work, Javad Farahmand Nejad said, “Qur’an engraved on the black granites with diameters of 92 cm has been created by Master Davood Zamani using engraving needle. The lines of this work have been created by gold plate and its formation has lasted 6 year and 4 months”.
Head of Research and Introducing Works Office at Astan Quds Razavi’s Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Centers continued his remarks and said that there are many artistic works with the topic of Qur’an at Astan Quds Razavi’s museums and they have all adorned the center. He also referred to the stone calligraphy of Bagharah Surah as one of these valuable works”.
He said, “This work of art has been created on a triangle like piece of stone. The length of this stone is 35 cm, its width is between 6 to 19 cm and its thickness is about 5.5 cm. all 286 verses of Baghaah Suarah has been written on this stone. Making of this work has been done by Seyyed Hassan Purrazavi during forty days”.
Farahmand Nejad went on to say, “This work has been prepared using art of Khatam. 90 × 42 is the size of this work and its handwriting is small Naskh in a way that reading it with naked eye is hardly possible”.
On miniature arts section, Javad Farahmand Nejad pointed to the Niyayesh (invocation) tableau of Master Farshchian.
He said, “The Niyayesh tableau depicts an old and faithful person who has raised his tired hands toward God, weeps and wants God to help him. As it has been said in various traditions: Houses in which night prayers are said and holy Qur’an is recited seem very bright for the residents of the sky as stars seem bright to the residents of the earth”.
Farahmand Nejad went on to say, “Mr. Farshchian has showed the endless favor of God as a current and illuminated stream in this work. This stream comes to the earth from sky. The works has been created on an acid-free paperboard with the size of 82×56. The style is miniature and the technique is acrylic. This beautiful tableau has been dedicated by Master Farshchian to Astan Quds Razavi in 1377/1998”.
Also, tableau of Imam Ali’s (A.S.) affection toward orphans with the title of Panah (refuge) is another precious and valuable work of Master Mahmoud Farshchian which was referred to by Farahmand Nejad. He said, “This work was also drawn on acid free model paperboard and its size is 73× 50cm. the work has been created using miniature and the style and acrylic as technique”.
He continued, “One of the nicknames of Imam Ali (A.S.) was father of orphans and in this tableau Imam has hugged a few orphans kindly”.
Farahmand Nejad added, “For the reason of glory and holiness of the Imam (A.S.), the competent painter has shown him from the back and has also covered his head with a turban. Hazrat Ali’s (A.S.) picture in the right upper hand of the paper shows his high position and divine vicinity and the bread and dates around the lower part of the Imam (A.S.) shows his kindness in dealing with the affairs of orphans and needy people”.
Head of Research and Introducing Works Office reiterated, “The aforementioned works have all been put into public display in Qur’an and Gifts of the Supreme Leader Collection museum. Pilgrims and citizens of Mashhad can visit these exquisites every day since 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
