In The Ritual of Husseini Mourning Permission; The Raising of Husseini Mourning Flag on the Dome of the Imam Reza (A.S.) Shrine.

along with the beginning of the month of Muharram, the flag of Husseini mourning was pulled up over the Imam Reza’s (A.S.) Shrine, and the celestial courtyards of this Luminous Court were covered in black, and as a sign of the beginning of the month of Muharram, pilgrims and neighbors of Razavi Holy Shrine along with religious bodies held the ceremony of Mourning Permission.
On the verge of Muharram, and the mourning days of Imam Hussein (A.S.), on the evening of Thursday, September 21st, the green flag of the Imam Reza’s (A.S.) Dome, along with the cover of the Holy Burial Chamber were replaced during a ceremony and changed to the black flag and cover as the sign of mourning.
Previous to the ceremony, several thousand members of the ceremonial mourning bodies of Imam Hussein (A.S.) in Mashhad, from every corners of the city, made it to the Holy Shrine and while holding black flags in hand attended the Courtyard of the Islamic Revolution to participate in the mourning ceremony.
Until the beginning of the program and the Quran recitation, the religious bodies had started the rawda reciting and chest beating rituals at the corners of the Revolution’s Courtyard, and the broadcasting of the sound of Mohtasham Kashani's poems triggered off an indescribable atmosphere in this Saintly Court.
In this magnificent ceremony, which was held with the participation of pilgrims, in regard with the declare of Husseini's mourning by Seyyed Morteza Bakhtiari, the Deputy Custodian of the Astan Quds Razavi, the mourning scarf was wrapped around on the neck of the three servants and eulogists of the Imam Reza’s (A.S.) Illuminated Court.
Also, the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi attended this glorious ceremony and talked on the issue of the companions of Husseini's Ashura.
In the special program “Mourning Permission”, the poets and admirers of Imam Hussein (A.S.) read panegyrics and rawda, and a number of the Sadat servants and the head watchmen of the Razavi Holy Shrine, along with the mention and eulogy of the Infallible Imams (A.S.) moved the black flag of the Astan Quds Razavi adorned with the verse “victory from Allah and an imminent conquest”, to the top of the Illuminated Dome and raised it there.
During the hoisting of Husseini's mourning flag on top of the Razavi Golden Dome, pilgrims present at the Revolution Courtyard, and in other ones where the sound of this magnificent event was broadcasting, voiced “Labayk Ya Hossein” loudly.
