On the beginning of the holy month of Muharram; Pilgrims flock to the holy Shrines of Karbala.

Since the first hours of the morning, the holy city of Karbala witnessed the arrival of crowds of visitors from inside and outside the province as well as visitors from outside Iraq, to reach its peak in the afternoon amidst great security and service alert of the servants of the two holy shrines in order to provide the best services for them to perform the rituals of the Ziyarat with ease.

This great influx, which is greater than usual in every eve of Friday, is attributed to important reasons, including:

1- Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) on the eve and day of Friday.

2- To bid farewell to the holy month of Dhu al-Hijjah and to receive the holy month of Muharram, as a number of the visitors are used to receives the holy months in this holy place.

3- Their participation in the replacement rituals of the holy domes' flags of the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), which is held annually after the prayers of Maghreb and Isha, to mark the beginning of the holy month of Muharram.

It is to note that the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has set a plan of the highest degree of accuracy and focus in order to maintain security and smooth movement of the visitors, to get the best results and to provide the best services and to create a suitable atmosphere for the performance of the rituals of the Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) during the Ashura days easily, whether they were individuals or groups or processions. And this is the custom of the staff of the holy shrine in every Ziyarat season, including this blessed Ziyarat that attract large numbers of visitors who started flocking since the early hours of Thursday.
