Conducted by Astan Quds Razavis Health Foundation; Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Razavi Hospital and Netherlands VUMC.

science and research deputy of Razavi Hospital stated, "In a meeting held to sign this memorandum of understanding, a number of specialists of restorative medicine from Netherland met with Dr. Shabestari, head of health foundation of Astan Quds Razavi, Dr. Tavakol Afshari, a number of members of academic board of Mashhad's University of medical sciences, cancer specialists, hematology specialists, and ear, throat, and nose specialists".


Talking about content of this memorandum of understanding, Dr. Ghafarzadegan stressed, "This memorandum of understanding has been signed in the area of restorative medicine in order to use stem cells in some surgeries particularly restorative surgeries in maxillofacial surgery".
He added, "Netherland's VUMC has had some cooperation with Tehran University; however, this is our first experience in Mashhad".
Ghafarzadegan reiterated, "The most important point in this accord is that all technical and scientific matters have been taken into consideration and all cooperation between these two centers happens in all areas including importing laboratory technology, teaching Iranian surgeons, holding joint seminars, dispatching specialist to Netherland to get familiar with equipment and technology of restorative medicine, and full observation on joint research projects".
"Following joint projects with other countries' scientific and medical centers has always been emphasized by Astan Quds Razavi's health foundation since it is really disappointing to see that medical surgeries are done by non-Iranian surgeons here in Iran but technology does not enter the country", he said.
According to science and research deputy of Razavi Hospital, the center was found very interesting and developed by Netherland's specialists in a way that they introduced Razavi Hospital as one of the best hospitals in the world".
Science and research deputy of Razavi Hospital said, "Following this memorandum of understanding and launching this technology at the hospital, some clinics will be established so that people can enjoy these services in a broader scope".
He emphasized, "One of the points which is highly paid attention in this foreign university is that all researches should have clinical aspect to solve people's problems otherwise conducted researches are not considered useful. Fortunately health foundation of Astan Quds Razavi follows the same policy".
Noting that restorative medicine can be used in the area of cancers, Ghafarzadegan reminded, "Injured organs in patients like those suffering from breast and bone cancer can be treated by purposeful treatments of this technology. Also, neurological disease such as MS and even heart failures can take advantage of this technology".
It is mentioned that Razavi Hospital, affiliated to Astan Quds Razavi, will be considered as one of the poles of stem cells technology.
