Thousands of Shia Muslims gathered at the holy shrine of the Imam in Kadhimiya on Monday night to mourn the sad occasion.
They had arrived from around Iraq and other countries.
The Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine has employed everything at its disposal to serve the mourners and pilgrims in recent days.
Addressing the event on Monday night, Sheikh Ali al-Shokri, a senior cleric and preacher, highlighted the virtues of Imam Jawad (AS) and the Imam’s role in reviving true Islam.
He also referred to the plots hatched to lead Muslim youths astray and said the society should follow the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), including Imam Jawad (AS), to stay clear from these threats.
Kadhimiya is a northern neighborhood of the city of Baghdad, Iraq. It is home to the holy shrines of Imam Musa Kadhim (AS) and Imam Jawad (AS).
