By Efforts of the Islamic Research Foundation of Astan Quds Razavi; Introduction of Books on Imam Reza (A.S.) in English

The Islamic Research Foundation of Astan Quds Razavi, coincident with Razavi Karamat Ten Days Celebrations, has introduced some works about Imam Reza (A.S.) in English.


Scientific research in order to promote Islamic culture through formation of research groups are among the aims of the scientific-research center, as well as the production of works with diverse topics in various languages, including Arabic, English, Urdu etc.
“Imam Reza (A.S.), the Imam of Kindness and Knowledge”, “Decorum for Visiting the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza”, “Famous Symbols of the Holy Mashhad”, “Imam Reza (A.S.), the Eighth Imam of the Shi’ite”, and “The Glossary and Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.)” are amidst the titles in English, translated by the European Translation Department of the Islamic Research Foundation of Astan Quds.
In the book “Decorum for Visiting the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.)”, after the introduction, goals and decorum of visiting Imam Reza (A.S.) with the epistemological approach, the purity of the soul and body, spiritual and emotional readiness, prayer to the Lord, invocation and supplication before the Lord, the pledge of honesty and servitude to the divine presence and prayer for the emergence of Imam Mahdi (A.S.) are discussed.
The final part of the book includes materials such as Imam Reza's (A.S.) insights and methods, his sayings, passenger prayer laws, and the text of the prayer book of Imam Reza (A.S.). This book is the translation of the book “Decorum for Visiting the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.)”, published to get Muslim English-speaking pilgrims acquainted with pilgrimage and philosophy.
“Imam Reza (A.S.), the Imam of Kindness and Knowledge” is another translated book by the Foundation, which is a brief overview of Imam Reza’s (A.S.) life, Imamate, spiritual, moral and political characteristics, debates, knowledge to different religions and schools of the world at that time, succession, martyrdom and a glance on the Razavi teachings.
The author has tried to give the reader a sense of the constant blessings of Imam Reza's (A.S.) child. This writer in the final section has presented topics such as pilgrimage, a step in the quest; a salute with knowledge, who is Imam? Imam in his words, Imam expectations from devotees and pilgrims have presented.
“Famous Symbols of the Holy Mashhad” is the title of a book, which includes a short biography of the life of Imam Reza (A.S.), virtues, pilgrimage decorum, and the full introduction of cultural, educational, scientific buildings and various activities of Astan Quds Razavi.
The author deals with the biographies of the buried figures in the Holy Shrine, Mashhad city, and introducing historical monuments and recreational centers for pilgrims and tourists in a different section of the book.
“The Glossary and the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.)” is another work published with focus on Imam Reza (A.S.), and since a large number of non-Iranian pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.) Court, speak in English, the author intended to help the servants of the Holy Shrine to better guide these pilgrims.
“Imam Reza (AS), the Eighth Imam of the Shi’ite”, is also the title of another book written in English and it is published by the European Translation Department of this Scientific Research Center. In this book, we read the biography of Imam Reza (A.S.) in English. Moral traits, aspects of social and scientific character, Imam's debate meetings with other scholars and thinkers, the issue of succession, Imam dealing with Ma’mun, the Abbasid Caliph; and his martyrdom.
It should be noted that the European Translation Department ​​was formed in the summer of 1984. Its purpose was to translate scholarly and religious works from European languages ​​(German, English and French) into Persian, and for acquaintance with the scientific achievements of the West. Since 1991, the Foundation's policy has changed on the translation of psychological and scientific books, and the translation of Islamic works has been on the agenda.
