For the First Time in the East of Iran; Cholangioscopy System Is Launched in Razavi Hospital

For the first time in the eastern part of the country, the cholangioscopy system was set up at the Razavi subspecialist hospital.

The Supervisor of endoscopy and the internal department at Razavi Hospital said, “This device is in fact is an advanced endoscopy device, capable of simultaneous direct and color imaging, direct vision sampling and opening the ducts.”
“Through cholangioscopy, it is possible to grind and remove large stones of bile ducts” Dr. Ehsan Akbari explained.
“By installing and launching this device, instead of spending high costs, and using extensive liver surgery with high complications, at a much lower cost and with much more limited complications, problems related to bile ducts of the patients will be identified and treated in this hospital ” he added.
Akbari, pointing out that in the eastern part of the country, diagnostic and therapeutic services were not provided with cholangioscopy and patients who demanded these services were forced to travel to cities such as Tehran, said, “Through the support of the Astan Quds Razavi, the endoscopy section of the hospital has various developmental plans for updating its services, including the use of advanced medical technologies. One of these programs, owing to the importance of treating patients with liver disease was the launch of cholangioscopy system in this ward.”
Supervisor of the endoscopy and internal department of Razavi Hospital, highlighting that the use of this device requires special training said, “Dr. Íayāt Bakhsh and Vosūq Nīā, with the sponsorship of Razavi Hospital have completed training courses on the use of cholangioscope in Italy, and in the near future to develop the use of this therapeutic approach, we will organize workshops at Razavi Hospital.”
Akbari, pointing to the cost of using this treatment that compared to bile duct surgery is much lower said, “Despite the cost that is several times lower than the cost of open surgery, treatment with chlorangioscope is not covered by insurance, which I also hope that by the support of the relevant officials, the insurance companies cover the costs.”
“The endoscopy and internal wards of the Razavi Hospital are currently one of the major centers in treating internal and digestive diseases in the country; however, this is the beginning, and in the future with the support of Astan Quds Razavi and foreseen plans, we will reach the first place and being the main center of treating internal and digestive diseases in the region” he remarked.
