Head of manuscripts office in Astan Quds Razavi’s organization of libraries, museums, and documents center announced on the existence of 640 old manuscripts and 254 lithographic books about this great Persian scholar in the office. He also said that these works have been authored either by Avicenna himself or other famous authors writing descriptions on him.
Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Noorinia reminded, “Subject of the works are on medicine, wisdom, Qur’an interpretation, logics, theology, prophethood, Islamic psychology, ethics, mathematics, and astronomy”.
He reiterated, “Famous work of “Salvation” (al-Najat) is one of his best works in philosophy and dialectical theology and it is a very exquisite book in the collection written by “Hasan Ibn Abi al-Fazl Samani” in 524 AH/ 1129 AD”.
Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Noorinia added, “This 19-line work has been written by using Naskh script style of writing on Samarkand papers. The writing was bought 76 years ago and become part of the treasury”.
He introduced “Healing” (al-Shifa) as another exquisite book of Avicenna on philosophy and wisdom. He also said, “This book was written for the judge Zein al-Din Shams al-Hazrah in the 6th century AH”.
“Comments” (al-Taliqat) was recognized, by Noorinia, as another great book of the Persian scholar on wisdom and Islamic philosophy and logics. He stated, “This copy has been written, in 500 AH, by “Ahmad Ibn Zein al-Abedin Alavi Ameli” in 178 pages. “Emad Fehresti” dedicated “Comments” (al-Taliqat) to the office in 1310/ 1931.
“Patterns and Paradoxes” (al-Mofareqat wa al-Noqush), “Borders and Fees” (al-Hodud wa al-Rosum) and “A treaties on the origin of the past” on Islamic philosophy and wisdom written in 581 AH, “The Reason for Observing Stars at Night” (Sabab al-Royat al-Kavakeb belayl) in Arabic and belonging to the 12th century AH, “Summary of Euclid” (Mokhtasar Oqlidos) on mathematics and geometry authored in the 11 century AH, “Selection of Salvation Book” (Montakhab men Ketab al-Najat) on mathematics and written in the 11th century AH were introduced by Noorinia as other exquisite manuscripts of Avicenna in Astan Quds Razavi manuscript treasury.
Saying that some of these valuable works are accessible at the digital library of Astan Quds Razavi, Organization’s head of manuscripts office said, “Avicenna’s “Canon” is one of these works which was written in the 8th century and its original copy is kept in Republic of Azerbaijan”.
He also announced on the existence of over 540 lithographic books of Avicenna’s works and their descriptions in this library.
