The closing ceremony was held at the Kufa Mosque, in Kufa, southern Iraq, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Hazrat Zeynab (SA).
Addressing the function, Seyed Muhammad Mousawi, the custodian of the Kufa Mosque, which organized the contest, explained about preparations for the event.
35 universities and colleges from different parts of Iraq took part in the national Quranic event.
Ahmed Saad Abdul Wahid from Rafidin University, Ali Hussein Akrawi from Islamic University, and Abdul Rahman Sajid from Imam Azam College won the top three titles, respectively.
The national Quran contest for universities was first held four years ago with the participation of 8 Iraqi universities.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
