Quran Contemplation Booths for Arbaeen Pilgrims

The Quranic stations set up on the path of pilgrims marching toward Karbala for Arbaeen will have booths for reflection on the Quran.

The Quranic stations for women pilgrims on all roads leading to Karbala will include the Quran contemplation booths.

Fatemeh Esmail, one of the organizers of the plan to set up the stations, said the Arbaeen ceremony is a major opportunity for fostering the culture of reflection on the Quran.

She said women who stop by and contemplate the Quran in these stations will become ambassadors of spreading the Quranic culture in their societies.

Fatemeh Hassan, another organizer, hailed the warm reception of the plan by women attending the Arbaeen march, saying that currently 30 Quranic stations welcome women on the paths leading to Karbala.

They learn reading some of the Surahs of the Quran, principles of Tajweed and recitation and some religious and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) issues, among other things.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day after Ashura, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the 680AD Battle of Karbala.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias march toward Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites. Many of them also visit Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine in Najaf.
