Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi: Mosques, Powerful Social Networks in Islamic World

In meeting with members of Khorasan Razavi Mosques Affairs Center, the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi noted that the mosques are powerful social networks in the Islamic world and added, “One of the greatest outcomes of mosques as Muslims’ huge gathering centers, is networking and creating Islamic flow among different classes of people.”

Ayatollah Sayed Ibrahim Raeisi in a meeting held in Wilayat auditorium of the Razavi Holy Shrine viewed the mosques as centers for worshipping, establishment of morality, and the focus of social, cultural, and political movements in the Islamic society and reiterated, “Getting awareness of the needy people livelihood and solving their problem as well as raising insightfulness concerning the current issues of the country are the benefits of the mosques.”
Member of Supreme Council of Khorasan Seminary considered the mosques as social networks in the Islamic world and said, “Today, the arrogance has realized the networking role of the mosques and hence it is trying hard to damage it. Mosques are a gift possessed only by Islamic societies while the arrogance is deprived of this gift.”
Stressing that mosque is an Islamic center for formation of public associations and communications revolving around litany and prayer, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi added, “Throughout Islamic history, mosques have been always centers for consultation, cooperation, and deciding over crucial social, political, and military issues and such a function has been always efficient both before and after the revolution.”
Describing the mosque as a center for human construction, recognizing the enemy and fighting the enemy, raising insightfulness, and preparation for creating the Islamic civilization, he remarked, “Congregational prayer leaders of the mosques should remain committed to cultural affairs as strongly as in the beginning of the revolution; the right of mosques should not be overlooked by marginal looks to this significant mission.”
“The mosque is the hub of different social activities with a drastic role in ideological strengthening and encouraging people to various social activities; therefore, congregational prayer leaders and seminarians have a critical responsibility regarding the mosques”, he added.
Noting that the enemy is largely attempting to deface the mosques, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi said, “Today the enemy is trying to replace the mosques social networks with virtual networks; in such conditions, the mosques’ authorities should make use of the cyberspace and change the threat into an opportunity for connecting people with mosques.”
Referring to the spiritual potential of Astan Quds Razavi and advising the members of mosques council of policy making to using this spiritual treasury properly, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi concluded, “A relevant relation needs to be made between the mosques and Astan Quds Razavi so that the mosques could make use of blessings of the Holy Shrine.”
At the beginning of the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam Hussein Haeri, director of Khorasan Razavi Mosques Affairs Center delivered a report of the function of this center and pointing that the mosque as a gathering center of different classes of people should be reinforced, he said, “A mosque is the most important cultural and religious base in any district and should be safeguarded as an important and spiritual center.”
