‘Hosseini infants’ gathering held across Iran

Mothers across Iran brought their infants on Friday to gatherings called ‘Hosseini infants’ to commemorate the martyrdom of Ali-Asghar (AS), the 6-month old son of Imam Hossein (AS) who was martyred brutally in the battle of Karbala.

Mothers congregated in groups in various cities of Iran taking their infants dressed in green and white similar to what is believed to be worn by Ali-Asghar (AS) and mourn for the six-month old martyr.

Dating back to 14 years ago the commemorating ceremony is being held annually on the first Friday of the mourning month of Muharram.

According to Shahrokh Sabouri, the head of the world Commemoration Assembly of Ali-Asghar (AS), the assembly also met concurrently in 30 countries worldwide on Friday.
