66,000 Police officers will secure Muharram in Pakistan's Sindh

A total of 65,780 police officers and jawans (volunteer forces) would perform security duty in the Sindh province.


As many as 65,780 police officers and volunteers would perform security duty during Muharram inSindh province of Pakistan.

This was informed by the spokesman of the Sindh police here on Sunday. He said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, has directed that during the holy month of Muharram foolproof security arrangements be ensured at the provincial level.

The IGP also called for concrete and effective patrolling, picketing and snap checking in the sensitive areas.

On the occasion, the IGP was also informed about the details of the Muharram security plan.

A total of 65,780 police officers and jawans (volunteer forces) would perform security duty in the province.

From first to 10th Muharram, 12,693 Majalis would be held at various places in the province. In all, 4,152 mourning and 1,351 ‘Tazia’ processions would be taken out.

In Karachi, 25,674 police officers and jawans would perform security duty.
