The Islamic Center of Hamburg hosted the event, which is annually organized to discuss issues related to the activities of clerics and scholars as well as spreading the Islamic teachings during Muharram.
Every year during Muharram, the first month in the lunar Hijri calendar, Shia Muslims around the world hold ceremonies to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 A.D.
Speakers at the Hamburg gathering underlined the need for promoting the teachings and Seerah of Imam Hussein (AS) and the message of the Ashura uprising.
They also referred to the growing trend of Islamophobia in Europe and called for efforts to introduce the true teachings of Islam to counter the trend.
The participants in the gathering further warned against attempts aimed at fomenting sectarianism and discord among Muslims.
They also condemned the Saudi-led aggression against the oppressed people of Yemen and the Al Khalifa regime’s crackdown on Bahraini people’s peaceful protests.
