Iranian Qari Attends Quran Recitation Session at Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine

A Quran recitation session was held at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq, with the participation of Quranic delegations from different parts of the country.

Iranian Qari Mohammad Javad Rajayi was also present at the program and recited verses from the Holy Quran.

Rajayi is a Qari and Muezzin (one who recites the call to prayers) of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast of Iran.

Another non-Iraqi guest at the Quranic program was Nuh Marei, internationally-known Qari and Quran memorizer from Lebanon.

During the Quran recitation session, a Tawasheeh (religious songs) program was also performed by Vaha al-Quran Tawasheeh group from Basra.

There has been a significant rise in Quranic activities and programs in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

The Quranic activities, mostly organized by Shia bodies, including the Astans (custodianships) of holy sites, include Quran competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs.
