70,000 Students Attend Quranic Courses Held by Astan of Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine

More than 70,000 Iraqi school students took part in the Quranic courses organized by the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.

The courses were part of the religious programs held during summer holidays for students in different provinces of Iraq.

In addition to Quranic skills, including recitation skills, the participants received lessons in Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), ideological and moral fields.

The courses aimed to promote the teachings of the Holy Quran and the culture of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) in Iraqi society.

They were received very well by school students, both girls and boys, according to Sheikh Ali al-Qar’awi, an official with the Astan.

There has been a significant rise in Quranic activities and programs in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
