In the ceremony of recitation of Nudbeh prayer held with presence of pilgrims of the Razavi Holy Shrine in the grand Imam Khomeini (R.A.) portico, Hujjat al-Islam Wal-Muslimin Panahian expressed condolences for martyrdom of Imam Reza’s (A.S.) son, Imam Jawad (A.S.), and expounded the importance of giving forgiveness from the viewpoint of his holiness.
“With a glance at the life of Imam Jawad (A.S.), we find out that his holiness spent much of his lifetime on worshipping and never gave up asking forgiveness from God”, he remarked.
“Asking forgiveness is a great divine gift that should be taken since it paves the way for reaching perfection and felicity”, said the lecturer of the Razavi Holy Shrine.
“One who asks forgiveness from God for the sin he has committed is as if he has not committed the sin; therefore, we should not overlook such a good opportunity God has provided for us”, he added.
Pointing to a tradition from Imam Jawad (A.S.) regarding asking forgiveness, he said, “Anyone who postpones repentance and asking forgiveness is a deceived person.”
“Religious experts have stressed highly on excessive repentance and maintain that asking forgiveness from God after committing any sin increases one’s attention to God”, he reiterated.
“According to traditions from the Infallible Imams (A.S.), the reward of asking forgiveness is higher than forty years of worshipping and this fact indicates the crucial role of asking forgives in human development as by asking forgiveness from God, man may recognize his sin more than before and discern its consequences in his life”, he continued.
“Asking forgiveness is in fact apologizing to God; one who is used to asking forgiveness and apologizes to God after committing a sin, will also apologizes to others in society after committing crimes or mistakes”, said the lecturer.
