Head of Manuscripts Office of Libraries, Museums and Documents Center of Astan Quds Razavi announced, “Valuable works in the field of medicine and pharmacy are kept in the Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi that have many useful information on these sciences, and in terms of history and artistic features are of great excellence.”
“This great work entitled "Mofid al-Khas fi Elm al-Khawas" that its Astan Quds version is the second volume, includes topics such as medicine, agriculture, veterinary etc., has fifty colorful images of animals and plants in Mesopotamia method” Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Hassan Nouri Nia said, pointing to a work by Muhammad ibn Zakariya Razi which was written between 743-746 AH.
“This work entitled “al-Hashaish” or “Khawas al-Ashjar”, or “Hiwali Alaj al-Tib”, is written by Pedanius Dioscorides (one of early famous Greek physicians), which is also known as five articles or terms, in which the author has studied over six hundred types of plants and many animals and birds” he asserted, highlighting another work, which was written in Greek in the 8th century, and its Arabic translation is available in Astan Quds Razavi.
“This book has two translations from Syriac to Arabic. Available Astan Quds version is translated by Mehran bin Mansur in the sixth century AH. Its script possesses 19-rows Naskh, buff paper, 284 pages, bock cover and Soltani size, and in the year 1017 AH, Shah Abbas the Great has endowed it” he expounded about the translation of this work, available in the Library of Astan Quds Razavi.
The Head of Manuscripts Office of Libraries, Museums and Documents Center of Astan Quds Razavi mentioned a work on General Medicine in Persian, which was written in 815 AH and expressed, “This work entitled "Kifayat al-Tib" by Kamaluddin Abulfazl Hubish Tbilisi, is in the description of the causes and symptoms of diseases, and each page consists of tables and is divided into four small tables that on top of mentioned tables, disease name and at the bottom, two larger tables are allocated to treatments. This version has a golden inscription inlaid with crenation and arabesque designs, and Mirza Reza Khan Naini endowed it in July 1932.”
“Treasury of Manuscripts of Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi, as one of the richest and biggest libraries in the Muslim world, has about 2,500 valuable manuscripts in medicine and pharmacy topics, which are of interest to enthusiasts and researchers in the field” he stated in the end.
