This project is part of the holy shrine's plan that aims to support the domestic production and reduce the imports process from the neighbouring countries.
To find out more details about this project, Al-Kafeel Network met the factory's director; Mr. Haidar Abd Al-Ghaffar Kadhem, who stated:
"As you know the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is always eager to provide the best services to the visitors and the citizens through the completion of a series of important projects, including the factory of filtering and desalination of water, which was built using modern methods and according to the highest quality certified scores with sophisticated and equipped designs and equipment with the latest available technology, and established by companies with long experience in this field, as Al-Kafeel company for public investments began processing the factory with production lines, under the direct supervision of the Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine."
He added: "The used water in the factory is the well water, as it contains useful minerals to the human body, and because the liquefaction water contains chlorine leading to the formation of carcinogenic substance when mixed with ozone and ultraviolet radiation, the water filtration is conducted in several stages, starting with the liquidation of water withdrawn and transferred to tanks for a deposition process to be moved to the stage of its filtration from the impurities then transferred again to tanks to pass later through the stage of liquidation of odours, which is done using coal. And finally it is saved in special tanks for the immediate withdrawal of salts by passing the waters in special equipment that filters water from salt. Then the water is sterilized by ozone gas and exposed to ultraviolet light to be safe to drink."
As for the water packing process, he explained: "After the completion of the water filtration, the water is going to the packing stage, which is done by sophisticated machines from worldwide origins that contain filters to help to kill air bacteria, so as to ensure that they are not mixed with the sterile water.
There is also a final sterilization process after packing in mugs/bottles and before covering them with covers made of aluminium. And after the completion of all these stages, the product is sent to the local market by an estimated production quantity between 25000 to 30000 boxes of 30 bottles."
Adding: "The sizes of the packages is various, there are the small bottles to those of 7 liters and 19 liters of single-use, as Al-Kafeel water factory depends on great quality of raw materials, starting with special cardboard for the packaging and also the used material for the mugs is of high quality that is not exposed to recycling process. And all of these stages hold approvals and certificates by the relevant governmental bodies, including the standardisation and quality control system, as well as the Ministry of Health where the waters are subject of screening process, and they were conformed with the approved specifications globally and safe for the human health, which led to building of confidence for this product."
