Quran Competition for Adults Concludes in Karbala

The closing ceremony of a Quran competition for adults was held at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq.


The "Khatam-ol-Anbiya” Hall of the holy shrine hosted the ceremony attended by Quran activists, scholars and clerics of the region.

Ali Al-Khafaji, head of the Quran Reciters Association of the Dar-ol-Quran Center said that 142 Qaris participated in the competition organized by the center in cooperation with Al-Zahra Quranic Association.

According to the Dar-ol-Quran of the holy shrine’s Astan (custodianship), the "Khatam-ol-Anbiya” Hall of the holy shrine hosted the ceremony attended by Quran activists, scholars and clerics of the region.

Ali Al-Khafaji, head of the Quran Reciters Association of the Dar-ol-Quran Center said that 142 Qaris participated in the competition organized by the center in cooperation with Al-Zahra Quranic Association.

The preliminary stage of the competition was supervised by a committee of Quran experts including Haj Ali Aboud Al-Tayi, Haj Ali Al-Khafaji, Haj Mustafa Al-Sarraf and Haj HamadiAl-Jarrah.

72 Quran reciters were selected to compete in the semi-final stage held in three sessions and 10 top ones made it to the final round.

The top winners of the competition were awarded prizes and certificates in the ceremony.

They are now considered qualified to perform Quran recitations in various religious and Quranic programs held by the center on various occasions at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
