Winners of Razavi Theater Festival honored in Iran

The 11th Razavi Theater Festival, an event dedicated to plays on religious themes, picked winners during its closing ceremony, which was held Thursday in Bojnurd, the capital of North Razavi Province.


Deputy Culture Minister for Artist Affairs Ali Moradkhani, veteran actor Jamshid Mashayekhi and a number of other cultural officials and artists attended the ceremony at the Golshan Hall in the northeastern Iranian city.

The award for best director went to Reza Hosseini for “Back on the Last Wednesday of the Year”, while best playwright award was presented to Amir Hamed for “Two Wings of the Scissor”.

The jury panel singled out Amir Hamed as the best actor for his contribution to “Two Wings of the Scissor”.

Parastesh Soltani, the star of “Back on the Last Wednesday of the Year”, and Seddiqeh Mashaekhi for her role in “Manzumeh” shared the best actress award.

During a brief speech, Moradkhani evaluated the festival and considered it to be such a successful and growing event that a number of its top works should be able to compete on an international scale.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Moradkhani admired the warm hospitality of the residents of the province as he described them as lovers of arts and culture.

Mashayekhi who is in his early eighties showed a deep reverence for the performing arts and the people connected to it such as writers, actors and even theatergoers.   

The event is part of the 14th Imam Reza (AS) International Festival that started simultaneously in Mashhad and three other Iranian cities on August 4, which marked the birthday of Hazrat Masumeh (SA), the sister of Imam Reza (AS).

The Imam Reza (AS) International Festival comes to end today concurrent with the birthday of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of the Shia Muslims.
