Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) said 77 countries will host the annual Imam Reza (AS) International Festival this year.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman noted that the festival first began 14 years ago and went international in its 7th edition.

He said the arts and cultural event, which features works about the eighth Shia Imam (AS) has attracted many artists and scholars to write books and create works of art to show their devotion to Imam Reza (AS).

He noted that ICRO is the organizer of the annual festival and that other institutions including Al-Mustafa International University, Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Imam Reza (AS) International Foundation, Astan-e Quds Razavi and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly cooperate in holding it.

According to the official, Tajikistan, Uganda, Germany, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Myanmar, Madagascar, Indonesia, Mali, Georgia, India, and China are some of the countries to host the festival this year.

The programs of the festival will be held in 2400 places across the world, he said.

The festival in Iran will kick off in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad on August 11 with the participation of 26 foreign guests, Ebrahimi Torkaman went on to say.
