The head of the Treasury of Stamps, Bills and Coins of Astan Quds Razavi, has named this treasury as one of the most active ones in the country and said, “Also, about four thousand pieces of stamps, first day cover, Qajar period envelopes and the First Pahlavi and other postal items from different countries of the world during this time have been identified and registered in property notebooks.”
“Furthermore, 1900 donated bills from six continents including countries such as Pakistan, New Zealand, Cuba, Fiji, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Laos, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Moldova, Transnistria, Russia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Romania etc., during the first nine months of the current year have been identified and recorded in this treasury.”
“The bills of the countries of Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Indonesia, Iraq, Madagascar, Mongolia, Maldives, Malaysia, Lithuania, Libya, Latvia, Peru South Sudan and dozens of other countries exist in this rich collection” he added.
“Over 1855 pieces of hammered minted coins of various dynasties of Iran and the world, after investigation, documentation and photography have been prepared for utilization by scholars and researchers and their photos are located at the museum's website” Yazdinejad said.
“The coins of the Parthian, Elymaeus, Sasanids, Sassanid Arabs, Tabari Arabs, Bani Umayyah, Abbasids, Samanids, Buyids, Kharazmshahians, Ghaznavids, Atabakans of Azerbaijan, Mehrbanids, Mongolian Ilkhans, Muzaffarids, Jalairids, Timurians, Marashhian of Tabarestan, Aghqoyunlou etc., are among precious hammered minted coins donated to the treasury” he stated.
“Also we can point out the hammered minted coins of Safavid, Afsharieh, Qajar, Hebarian (Sindh emperors), Doranias, Huns of Kashmir, Qorian, Ayubian of Egypt, Ottoman caliphate, Kabul Shahian, Hootakian (Afghans), Khanat of Bukhara, Barekzayi (from current Afghanistan) and so on” he said.
“Dozens of collectors and coin experts from all over Iran, along with researchers and undergraduate students of the nationwide universities, in order to study the coins of various dynasties have referred to this treasury during this period and have taken advantage of the specialized books in Persian, Arabic, English and French” he expressed.
“Providing scans of the coins and the study of documented papers of the treasury coins is another research service which has been offered to these experts, researchers and students according to the regulations of the museums' affairs deputy of the Library, Museums and Documents Center of Astan Quds Razavi” Yazdinejad added.
“There were also ten specialized exhibitions on various occasions such as the of Rajab13th, the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (A.S.) and the Father’s day; Rajab 27th; appointment of the Prophet of Islam; May 18th, the World Museum and Cultural Heritage Day; the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, the Quds Day; the birthday anniversary of Imam Reza (A.S.) and the Karamat Ten-Day Celebrations; September 22nd, the beginning of the Holy Defense Week etc., in the first nine months of the current year, were held at the treasury and were welcomed by the visitors” he asserted.
“This rich treasury, with more than 850,000 stamps from about 240 countries and the former colonies of the world, and about 24000 banknotes, from 150 countries of the world, and more than 63000 pieces of coins from various dynasties of Iran's kings and countries of the world, is one of the important centers for preserving, maintaining and displaying this collection of works, which has close cooperation with scholars, academics and collectors” he reiterated.
It should be noted that the enthusiasts can visit the exquisite and various works of stamps, bills and coins located on the floor minus one of the central museum of Astan Quds Razavi, at the Kawthar Courtyard of Razavi Holy Shrine every day from 8:00 to 17:45, and on holidays from 8:00 to 12:00.
